In 2017, our partner Community Housing Partners (CHP), launched a new after-school program for youth at 15 apartment communities. The program, Discovery Zone, offers both school and life skills, including social and emotional learning and literacy, to children in first through sixth grade. In 2018, CHP’s Resident Services program took a look at the data and found that children were learning. Pre-survey results showed that only 36% of children knew steps to improve their future, while at six weeks in, 68% of the youth were able to identify the steps.
