We are beginning to share affordable housing success stories during the National Housing Week of Action (May 30-June 5). We plan to feature stories on our blog throughout our 2019 campaign.
Just a few weeks ago, our partner SERCAP (Southeast Rural Community Assistance Project, Inc.) celebrated the rebuilding of a home with the addition of indoor plumbing for a resident in Nelson County, Virginia.
SERCAP Housing Manager, Cherry Wilson, shared the story of the homeowner and the before and after photos of the home. “This was an elderly female, that lived in a trailer with no Indoor Plumbing. Last summer during the storms and wind that came through our area, the client’s trailer was blown away. Therefore, she was forced to leave her home and move in with her daughter until SERCAP was able to get her approved by DHCD.”
