The president signed the Fiscal Year 18 Omnibus Bill on March 23, 2018, locking in increases for the HUD budget proposed by Congress. Overall, HUD saw a 10% increase in its budget from FY 17, which was a welcome surprise for advocates who feared major cuts to critical programs.
The HUD budget items CHACE continues to follow closely:
- Housing Choice Vouchers
- Project Based Rental Assistance
- Public Housing
- Community Development Block Grants
- HOME Investment Partnership funds
Though we are safe for the remainder of FY 18, housing advocates will continue to fight to ensure that Congress allocates additional funding for these vital programs every year.
